Shaping Our Nation: Unit Overview
This unit is rich in History and English content and skills. The Australian Curriculum prescribes that Year 9s students study the historical events that Shaped our Nation from the 1750s to 1918. This unit will look at a summary of events during this period, then students will do some work on the Industrial Revolution and then complete in-depth studies of the Victorian Gold-rushes and the Eureka Stockade, plus one other event during this period, that is of interest to them. Later in the year students will study WW1 in detail.
The major culminating event for this unit will be a student devised and performed 'Sound and Light' show highlighting many of the significant events they have studied that helped to 'Shape our Nation'. |
